I just heard the news that Emilio has come out of coma. That is great news. We only pray that he will come to a complete recovery and enjoy the rest of his life with his family. Best wishes to him and family.

I am aware of the argument many have about how conjunto music was once called Tejano music. That is true. But then came Ruben Ramos, Little Joe, Agustine Ramirez, David Lee Garza, etc. They called their music Tejano music and to this day that is who people think of when you mention Tejano music. Not to take anything away from those great great artists and their music. I like it too but it is not my music of choice. I prefer Puro Conjunto Music. That is why I never call my conjunto music Tejano or any other name because it’s not. I hope more conjunto musicians will stay true to this music and call it by what it truely is, Puro Conjunto Music.
As the politicos travel across the state of Texas seeking our votes I can’t help but notice that at their events Mariachi music is always played. While I have nothing against Mariachi music, it is not my preferred choice of music. I wish for once they would use Conjunto/Tejano music. We Tejanos vote too. If some of these candidates would tell us Tejanos that they would fight against the discrimination of our music on the radio air waves, they would have our vote. Ok, Ok, I know other issues are very important but this is one is important too. What do you think?
